Payment receipt: the document that shortens any conversation
A screenshot saying sent is not a receipt. Which details make a document actually useful when something has to be traced or claimed.
A payment has not shown up. You ask for the receipt and a screenshot arrives with the word sent and little else. Nothing can be searched with that, and the conversation stretches on for days.
What it actually is
A receipt is the record that an operation happened, with enough detail to locate it. It is not the promise that it was done: it is the information that lets someone find it.
Which details make it useful

Where to find it
In the operation detail, not in the movement list. The list says something happened; the detail says exactly what happened and under which identifier.
When you are glad you kept it
When a payment goes under review and the origin of the money has to be evidenced. With the receipt and the invoice in hand, the check is short. It is in why an account goes under review and in KYT.
Where you will be asked for it
In support, in any review, and when claiming a payment that never arrived. And the other way around: if you are the one paying, you will be asked for it.

Is a screenshot enough?
It depends what it shows. If it includes the operation identifier, the date, the amount, and who sent and who received, it works. If it only says the payment was sent, it identifies nothing and no system can be searched with it.
Where do I get the receipt?
In the operation detail inside the app or dashboard the payment was made from, not in the list. The list shows the movement; the detail shows the data identifying it.
What will I be asked for it for?
To locate a payment that has not shown up, to evidence the origin of funds during a review, or to claim when something stopped along the way. In all three, without identifiable data the search cannot even start.
